The Little Star - 許琇喬 Joy S.C.Syu

A long, long time ago, there was a little star in the sky.

The star thought it was so small no one would look at it. So, it asked a god to make it bigger.

(The Star : I'm so small. Make me bigger, please.)
(The God : Okay.)

The god agreed and the little star began to grow but it wasn’t satisfied.

(The star : I’m still so small.)

It wanted the god to make it larger than the moon.

Again, the god agreed.

(The star : Make me larger than the moon, please.)

(The god : okay)

He made the little star larger than the moon, but the little star still wasn’t content.

(The star : I’m still not large enough.)

Now, it asked the god to make it brighter than the sun.

Once more, te god agreed.

(The star : Make me brighter than the sun, please.)

(The god : okay)

He made the little star brighter than the sun, but the little star wasn’t satisfied.

(The star : I’m not content.)

This time, it requested to be the biggest star in the entire galaxy. The god agreed and turned the little atar into an enormous star.

(The star : I want to be the biggest star in the whole galaxy.)

People looked at it, but they thought it was strange. No one praised it and this made the star very sad.

(People : It’s strange. What is this?)

Finally, it demanded the god turn it into a shooting star even thought it would die.

(The star : I want to be a shooting star.)

(The god : okay)

The god sighed. Suddenly, the star was burning through the sky. People looked at it mesmerized.

(People : Wow! It’s so beautiful!)

Just as the star was pleased everyone was looking at it, a meteor shower began.

(The star : Yeah!)

No one looked at the star anymore.

(People : Look! “pointed at other stars”)

(The star : No...)

It flew through the sky and disappoeared forever. No one remembered it. If it was still a little star then maybe people would remember it, but now it was too late.
